A leading global provider of airline catering services, with a number of operating sites in the UK; have relocated their Luton depot. During relocation, the company were able to continue providing food for Wizz Air and Easyjet flights, however the new site required cold storage facilities to safely store the airlines food and ice.
Martin Bowman, Regional Sales Manager, was able to obtain a complete understanding of their operation and was able to use his experience to take the information given and re-design a more efficient facility. It was determined what the client required; they would like a quotation for six cold rooms.
A meeting followed where a survey of the site was completed. Martin, armed with the information was able to confirm lead up and build times. With a tight deadline on the refrigeration aspect, it was imperative the contracts were signed and installation scheduled for completion within five weeks.
The specification was approved by the client, after a quick tweak on the original plan. It was proposed that a more efficient four room complex, consisting of two chillers (one room with a partitioning wall) and two freezers each independently constructed, one of which to be purely for storing ice. Due to the nature of the product being stored, all four rooms required food safe and clean interiors. Each cold room would be constructed using PIR, fire rated panels, ceiling mounted refrigeration systems, pallet wide doorways and IP65 low energy LED lighting.
The Polarbase install team were able to complete the installation with almost two weeks to spare.
After discussing replacement options and by demonstrating our expertise at the Luton site, the company have agreed another deal with Polarbase for their site at Newcastle Airport. They currently have a chiller they have outgrown, and need it to be replaced with a larger unit. The new split room will feature ceiling mounted refrigeration systems and a combination of pallet wide/pedestrian doors.
‘Very professionally executed project from Polarbase from initial design through to installation and completion. An excellent Job ‘
